Sustainability and Environmental Statement
TFS recognises its responsibilities with regard to sustainability and environmental protection, and recognises the need for company procedures and long-term strategy. It is vital to consider the impacts of our activities on the wider community and our environment and to ensure that our growth and development is undertaken in a responsible and sustainable manner.
Aims and Objectives
TFS has already made positive changes to adopt a cleaner approach to their business by introducing its TFS Zero service which:
- Provides a lower tariff service to help customers save money, make environmentally ethical choices and reduce carbon emissions.
- Reduces the impact on the environment with the best efficiency and lowest emission vehicles.
- Contributes towards an improvement in local air quality.
The long-term aim is to develop the TFS Zero service options as the EV technology improves Focussing initially on the Norwich and surrounding areas, TFS will continue to help improve the local environment and reduce harmful pollution then extending this service to the Liverpool branch to cover a greater geographical area of the North West UK.
Where possible and practicable TFS will implement environmentally advantageous policies. In particular, TFS commit to:
- Only procure new vehicles that comply with the latest EC emission and noise specification.
- Control, monitor and reduce the fuel consumption and emission levels of all vehicles.
- Give due consideration to alternative fuels.
- Develope staff training to maintain TFS's sustainability and environmental policy and ensure all staff members are updated on any new considerations.
- Ensure that vehicle weights remain within legal restrictions, limiting damage to highways and the environment.
- Encourage road safety and good driving practise by providing a high standard of training and monitoring.
- Encourage greater fuel economy, so reducing emission levels, by providing a high standard of driver training.
- Encourage customers to use the TFS Zero, all electric vehicle, courier service to reduce the carbon footprint of their business.
- Ensuring management provide leadership, resources, facilities, tools and systems are provided as required to meet Statutory and Regulatory requirements and environmental commitments.
Ensure that our service station carry out repairs and servicing in an environmentally considerate manner and ensuring that all waste vehicle oil disposal is carried out by a licensed operator specialising in waste oil disposal. - Return all used tyre casings to the supplier for disposal in an approved and environmentally satisfactory manner.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure that any hazardous goods carried are properly packaged in accordance with relevant national and international law.
- Recycle used paper and other material wherever it is possible and practicable to do so.
TFS will continue to consider other environmentally advantageous practices, and take account of local authority, national incentives and community representations.
